Mood Boards

Mood boards are everywhere and for good reason. They help focus an idea or theme so you can see if elements going to play nicely together. I enjoy creating Wedding Wednesday mood boards for Nan Lee Jewelry. They always include one piece of jewelry from her shop and show brides a complete vision for their special day. In this particular instance, I also photographed the Swarovski Crystal earrings.

Constellation Blue

Just a little Polyvore inspiration. Astronomy has always been a favorite pastime and so designing with "stars" as the focus helped me use navy in a really fun way. My normal inclination would have been to go with the warmer accents of gold, but silver won me over in this case.

Art Deco Mood Board

Style and mood boards are one of my favorite things to work on. Here's one for Nan Lee Jewelry showcasing their wedding day jewelry as part of an art deco wedding theme. Every designer has their favorite software for creating boards and my favorite is InDesign. Personally I find it faster to manipulate images and text in this app rather than Photoshop or Illustrator, but that's just me. What's your favorite software app?

Ideal Social Media Sizes Cheat Sheet

Here's a quick cheat sheet to have on hand for ideal social media post images sizes. These are the most common sizes used to ensure an image won't get chopped or cropped. There's nothing more frustrating than a crucial part of a post image being hidden due to a non-optimal size for the particular social stream you're posting to. Sure, your readers "could" click on the image for it to either fully load or link to the source material, but why ask them to take that extra step? I'll be creating more detailed sheets for each platform so stay tuned.
