Downtown Dallas museums feature an occasional "late night" where venues are open till midnight with special performances by musicians, dancers, poets and author readings. We happened by the Nasher Sculpture Center and experienced an interactive piece by Martin Creed called Work No. 1190: Half the air in a given space. It's a room filled with approximately 9,000 gold balloon. The people on the left side of the photo are waiting to enter the space. As they exit on the right, wranglers keep the spheres from escaping.
Khara Ledonne creates miniature hand-painted scenes inside lockets. Each one is created using oil enamels and a very small brush. Aren't they lovely?
Oh I'm loving the work by artist Leah Giberson. She has a very unique approach to her creations. It's best described in the artist's own words below:

The works of Debbie Smith are currently on my wish list. Here paintings have a rich vibrancy of color and at first glance I thought they were photography. Her flowers are particularly lucscious. Birthday coming up in a few months. Hint. Hint. Check out her site for a full listing of available original oils or prints.
Do you ever find yourself at an art show or street fair and you suddenly stop dead in tracks? That's what happened when I saw the paintings of Robert Burt. They transport you immediately and you find yourself feeling a part of the composition. There's a dreamy quality to his work that I love. I wish I could buy something from every artist that I admire. I'm sure they get tired of hearing how beautiful their work is. You can't live off of words. Check his website for more details about the artist and a full listing of other galleries that represent him.
While browsing Charlotte's Fancy I came across her category titled affordable art. That's where I saw illustrator Clare Owen's work. Check out her website and her Etsy shop.
