Holy Headgear, Batman!

Okay I admit it. I did watch a teensy bit of the royal wedding. My favorite part of the fashion watching is the hat fetish of the English. I mean there were some truly eye-popping creations. The show stopper — Princess Beatrice. Um, wow.

Here are a few Etsy shops with some hip hats:

1. BAM! comic book inspired fascinator by Janine Basil

2. Opulent peacock feather headpiece by Alozano Couture

3. Red beaded pillbox hat by Holly Young Headwear

Hello yellow! Handmade heaven.

I'm a bit infatuated with yellow at the moment which has never happened. It's such a happy, energetic color, but I always shy away from it in clothing and design. I have no idea why because I'm smitten with it now. Here are some lovelies from etsy:

1. Bicycle Letterpress folded cards from Paper Lovely

2. Be Polite felt sign from Tumbledown

3. Felt Ruffle Kidney Pillow Cover from White Nest

4. Friendship Roses soaps from Satin and Birch

She has several tutorials and quite few yummy recipes as well. With Mother's Day around the corner, 'tis time to get serious about the card crafting!

Jennifer Burke pottery

We attended the Art Walk in downtown McKinney last weekend and saw some wonderful artists and craftspeople. In my quest to buy handmade whenever possible, a new coffee cup was purchased from Jennifer Burke. It is my new best friend, lovingly holding my coffee in the mornings. I think it even tastes better out of this cup. I especially like the detail on the top of the handle where my thumb rests. Jennifer also teaches at the McKinney Art House.
