Gosh dang it. As if I didn't have enough interesting/inspiring/hilarious/fantastical blogs to read, I've found another—Roadkill Rescue. Beckie Farrant is doing amazing upcycling of furniture and home decor items. So many ideas, and so little time!

Birdies of every type have been wildly popular for a while now. I find that I'm particularly drawn to swallows. Must be those fancy tail tips they sport like fins on a vintage Cadillac. Anyway—back to the point—here are a few examples that are charming:
1. Sweet Swallows birth announcement at Tiny Prints
2. Double Swallows Save the Date postcards by Fa Fa Tin
3. Green Swallow purse by LaLoriHandbags
After yesterday's post about S.P.W.'s shrink plastic buttons I was inspired to give it a try. I found it a little tricky to work three times bigger than the final size, but it's definitely worth the effort to use proper measurements. These are going to be pendants that I plan to hang from a simple black cord with a silver lobster clasp. I'd love to see other people's creations if you've ever dabbled with the shrinky dinks.
Run, don't walk over to S.P.W. (scissors.paper.wok) and check out this shrink plastic button tutorial by Kimanh. So cute it hurts. Be sure to watch her lovely stop-motion movie clip as well. Tres chic.
Now I like a paper doll that has her own paper doll—that's style. Amy Earles has some lovely reproductions of her hand-painted creations at her Etsy shop. I love the richness and delicacy she achieves using gouache.
Excellent tutorial over at DesignSponge on these charming wine bottle vases. Everything to make them can be found at a local hardware store. The geniuses behind them are husband and wife team Lindsay and Taylor of Purr Design.
I love these upcycled CD jewelry examples. The top example is a layered approach to earrings by Earthchild89. The second example by Becky Haas can be found here along with a tutorial if you find yourself in the mood for a little DIY.
