Upcycled cabinet pulls jewelry holder

Finally finished a project with my hubby this weekend. My necklaces were getting to be a tangled mess so we created this jewelry holder using cabinet pulls and a leftover piece of cedar board. Ed put a decorative edge on the board with a router, but simple reclaimed wood looks great as well.

1. Cut  board to desired length.

2. Stain or paint desired color (I used Minwax stain in "ispwich pine")

3. Drill holes for the cabinet knobs. Usually 3/16 drill bit size.

Birdie garland tutorial

I'm digging this cute birdie garland tutorial over at A Little Glass Box. A little chipboard and scrap paper never looked so good. I'm seeing lots of garland decor lately for all seasons instead of just Christmas.

Heres my favorite bunny garland of the moment. I think this would be a fun craft to do with kids if you're afraid of dyeing eggs. Not afraid of the eggs so much as the kids dyeing the carpet, the walls, each other's hair ...

Recent work

Here's a fun piece I got to work on recently. It's a super simple magnetic memo board. You basically need sheet metal, some enamel spray paint, ribbon, buttons and magnets. Drill some holes, paint the sheet metal, glue buttons or doodads to your magnets, add a ribbon to hang and voila—you're done. I love styling photoshoots and I worked with photographer Mark Wagoner on this particular project.
