I know it's been quiet on the blog this week. I've been in New York with Nan and Shelli soaking up the city. I lived there for a few years and the trip was full of nostalgia. Many things were the same, but there were also some big changes in the city. The taxis are now quiet hybrids and Times Square looks more like Tokyo, but thankfully Radio City Music Hall is still its grand old self. The 24 hour diners are great and the shopping is best on the lower east side if you want indie and boutique offerings. Overall the trip has left me wondering why I stayed away for so long!
Healthy Chocolate Fix
One of my friends pinned this recipe from Muffin Topless of a healthy recipe using protein powder and stevia, but tastes just like rich, decadent ice cream. I can't wait to try it. Click for the recipe.
Edible Feathers
These edible vanilla candy feathers by andiespecialtysweets are lovely. You can request a custom color and they're sold in sets of 12. Their recipe uses organic and fair trade ingredients, with no hydrogenated or fractionated oils. Check out their entire etsy shop for every kind of edible object imaginable.
Marshmallow Snowman Cupcakes
Stumbled across this great DIY post on making Marshmallow Snowman Cupcakes at Catch My Party. I love holiday desserts. Heck I love anytime desserts. Head on over to check out their step-by-step instructions with photos.
Giant Custom Shortbread Cookies
Well I woke up to a pleasant surprise today. My custom giant shortbread cookie design was featured on the Zazzle homepage. You can send these beautiful cookies for any occasion and customize them with text and even your own photos. The icing is completely edible. I think they also make great business to business corporate gifts. There are also regular size cookies by fours or the dozen if the giant style isn't your cup of tea.
Custom Cake Pops
Looking for a really unique favor or dessert for a party or reception? Custom Cake Pops are a perfect treat and you can add custom photos, graphics and text to the edible icing cookie on the front. The pops come in three cake flavors: vanilla, chocolate or red velvet. Icing options are milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate. Drizzle colors have ten options.
Memorable breakfasts
This is one of my favorite breakfasts of all time from our vacation last year in Seattle at Cafe Presse.
